Danielle’s Story:
Hi there..... I've been out of work for some time now *May 08* and with every passing month I find it harder and harder to find not only a decent job but any job at that. I've had to give up many things just to get by on what little money I have. So I've turned to one of my hobbies, crocheting blankets. Which I sell to make some money. It's a bit time consuming but it's worth it during these tough times.
David Chilbert’s Story:
having become overwhelmed with medical debt for the past few years (even with employer provided insurance) has placed such a burden on my family that we are in danger of loosing everything we have worked for over the past 25 years. But, the consolation is that we are not alone and there is strength in numbers. My family has sent men to fight since WWI, each generation knows that this country is the only/best place to live in the entire world.
Deborah Coughlan’s Story:
My husband's plant is closing in June. He is 63 years old. Our mutual funds, 401K,--retirement--, is gone from the banking debacle. We have custody of our 8 year old grandson, and have had him since birth. He and we all have muliple, serious medical needs and medications. We are facing quite a challenge. Our faith is in the Lord. We have determination despite high long-time double digit unemployment in our county. We have a bigger challenge in overcoming Washington DC.
DEBRA’s Story:
My oldest son is back home. Can't find work. Is going to school but would like a part time job to pay for personal items instead of asking for money from us. My mother my be moving in with us too as she is on a fixed income and it would be less expensive to live with us than on her own. Instead of us putting money away we are picking up the tab for our families. I'm not complaining. This is what families are all about.
Debra Gentry’s Story:
Our money says 'In God WE TRUST" And I'll tell you this as for me and mine we will trust in the Lord, And God don;t take your hand from off this country just let me live in your loving shadow
DeeAnna Glenn’s Story:
I am a single mother who was laid off in November 2008 from Citifinancial (Citigroup). I have since fallen behind on my house payments and cannot get the bank to help me out. Although I am receiving unemployment benefits and even addressed the stimilus package that was signed by President Obama, the bank claims they do not now the stipulations of the package and refuse to help me, they have basically told me that foreclosure proceedings have started and do not want to help. I am so disappointed!
Denise’s Story:
I thinkg the goverment should bailout the American people. Prices are going up,mypaycheck stays the same & my bank account is going dow. This country is all about We The People

Diane Hawkins’s Story:
My husband is out of work due to the auto market failing and now the lack of open jobs. We've been cold in our house all winter because we can't afford the heat; getting groceries from private oraganizations and government commodities; selling our furniture to pay bills; no medical help and no way to get any. I never thought I'd see this great counry brought down the way it has been while this president is more concerned with getting pizza from out of state and we can't affford a frozen one!
Don Kinson’s Story:
I am a proud veteran, an american and a Christian. We the People of this great country need to stand fast and hold on to these truths that afforded us through the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. We stand united and not let this nation be taken away from the free people. There is only flag to be flown over this great country of ours and it must be the Red, White and Blue.
Don Nevins’s Story:
Do you pay federal, state and local taxes, sales taxes, income taxes, property taxes, and all those hidden taxes like those on gasoline? Do you pay your mortgage, credit card bills, household bills, and all your other liabilities on time? Do you give regularly to a religious institution and other charities? Do you pay to help put your kids or grandkids thru school? YES! Have you ever taken drugs, been jailed for committing a crime or stolen from a fellow citizen? Have you ever thrown the dice and gambled everything you own on that one throw? NO! You sound like salt of the earth folks. How is it that nobody pays any attention to you when you are a member of that great body here in America making everything go? I applaud the forgotten and ill treated us! The New York Times & CBS said this morning that their poll shows people (you & me??) are more confident? Is that true? Before I answer for myself, I will tell you my thought process and the questions I asked: · This week N. Korea launched a long range missile which can reach Alaska and they have nukes. The Sec’y of Defense announced a plan to focus on conventional weapons and cut missile defense. President Obama announced that as the USA launched the nuclear age by using the weapon, it is up to the USA to lead the parade on total nuclear disarmament. Do I trust others (Iran, N. Korea, Israel, China, Russia, Pakistan , Syria and related terrorists, etc) to follow? Unilateral disarmament?? Maybe we need to spend more on missile defense? · In 2006, the total debt and unfunded liabilities (notes, bonds, greenbacks abroad, Social Security & Medicare totaled $42 trillion. This year The President and Congress chose to deficit spend some $5-7 trillion. Congress chose again (the dream Act) to try to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. The “kids” (up to 30) who get amnesty can then sponsor their parents. This will dramatically increase the unfunded liabilities of SS & Medicare because these illegals have not been paying into the plans over their total working lives. [Think of a 64 year old illegal that works one year and retires.]This will represent another $20-25 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Who will be paying this combined $70-75 trillion (equal to $225,000.00+or- per man, woman & child) in liabilities, the grandchildren of our grandchildren? Do not forget the effect of interest and inflation (Medicare)! Maybe we need to spend less? Or embark on elderly euthanasia? What will we have to give up to pay the taxes, eating or medical treatment or both? I wonder if our leaders are ruthless enough to unleash ruinous inflation on us like Germany after WWI? It lead to Hitler. · In 2009, Congress and the President embarked on a spending plan to stimulate our economy which while spending vast sums they can point to few if any good, permanent, nongovernment jobs which will remain after the spending stops. I will agree they were spending billions on earmarks and other forms of pork. This appears to follow the Roosevelt plan during the Great Depression. From 1929 to 1939, I know of no economic indicator that improved by any significant amount in this period to where the taxpaying as well as the unemployed citizens were happy. Maybe we need to embark on an Economic Stimulus which focuses on making credit available and developing good, permanent, nongovernment jobs? · George Washington in his Farewell Address and Thomas Jefferson in his private papers referred directly to the need for the citizens to prize obedience to the law first and above any individual as a means of assuring equal treatment for all under the law. For Christians, so did Christ. I see the law contorted beyond recognition by citizens, Congress and the Administration to benefit the few at the expense of the many. Immigration laws are flaunted and moves for retroactive changes made for criminals (broken immigration laws & payments to drug lords), primarily of one culture (racist) and benefiting employers who prey upon these illegals who are obviously vulnerable. The cost to AZ taxpayers was estimated by Gov. Napolitano to be $1.5 billion /year 3 or 4 years ago. The Administration has glossed over tax evasion by numerous appointments and all too few withdrew. The IRS reports to a tax cheat who knew his actions were illegal. I have witnessed in a grade school classroom the teaching of relative morality; my truth is not your truth but as long as the end justifies the means it is ok. Will this speed up elderly euthanasia? Will this become so rampant that anarchy reigns? Why are the super rich bailed out at the expense of the rest of us? What is just under our Constitution and Bill of Rights (of the people, by the people and for the people) about Congress*, the Administration*, boards, managements, and unions as well as real estate speculators (includes 1 house buyers) who in greed and unreasonable risk taking to advance their own self interest brought ruin to themselves, their enterprises and the country and now expect to be bailed out and rewarded with debt forgiveness, bonuses (in the Administration’s & Congress’s case better retirement and health care as well as “contributions”) in trillions at our expense? No, my optimism is in recession if not depression along with my retirement income and assets as well as my country’s moral & economic recession nee cum depression. We'll be at 10% unemployment before you know it. Any sane folks left out there? Send this on and show up at the TEA PARTY on the 15th. If not, beam me up Scotty, no human life on this planet! Don Nevins, Tucson, AZ, Tuesday, April 07, 2009 PS $1 trillion in $100 bills (6”long & 2.5“wide) will circle the globe 38 times, giving you an 8’ wide path to walk on and equals $3,000 for every man, woman and child in the USA. We are heading for one 600’ wide! *Perfectly represented by Barney Frank’s refusal at Harvard today to take any responsibility for our current mess. He did take enough dollars from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (where the collapse started) to rank in the top three along with Obama & Dodd. He never condemned the Board & Management for excessive severance packages at Fannie Mae ($300 mil) when they were caught cooking the books. He held off condemning bonuses at both after they accepted taxpayer funds. He never condemned the severed showing up on Obama’s Campaign Committee. He was reluctant to give up his partner’s 6 figure pay at Fannie Mae and got his partner off the payroll at the last minute. {0} Mark as read Mark as unread Delete Junk Not junk Print View message source This message is too wide to fit your screen. Donna W.’s Story:
This is so HARD on our family. I have a daughter in college, and a son in the military who is stationed on the other side of the country. My husband & I both work full time but were laid off for half the year in 2008. We are now playing catch up with bills and mortgage. I can't ever remember feeling so hopeless. Tuition and taxes are due...where is that coming from? I haven't seen my son in over a year. I am afraid we will lose our home.
Dorothy’s Story:
Born on a farm where we lived with our grandparents, both of whom came over from Armenian, as did our Dad, at age 16, escaping the massacres. I am one of 8 children, who is not afraid of hard work. BUT with the government infringing daily on our freedom, i am finding it very hard to keep my small business going when all you hear is about how bad things are going to get! We raised 4 children, all are happily married, gave us 11 grandchildren...........and gov't needs to live as we all must!
Dr Tom OBrien’s Story:
My Soul cries out in pain because of all the needless suffering by the innocents. People - working class people - did not create this crisis - Greedy wealthy people did ! We must unite our spirit and our voices until these Few are fearful of our wrath. We must take to the streets, once again, as we did fifty years ago, in the turbulent Sixties. Return the Power to the People ! Dr Tom
