Diane Chambers Swett,RN’s Pledge:
The greatest issue is not one of ethics but responsibility. The issue faced by all people is the responsibility for the care for the lives of others. In the past persons or communities would bond together to help even a stranger. Now we use organizations and departments to handle these needs. By donations, we relinquish personal responsibility. We may clear our conscience of personal responsibility. But can we clear our hearts of the misery we allow to continue? My Pledge is to offer my hand.

Diane Wilson’s Pledge:
To keep the faith alive. I want to beleive in our government. I want to have faith that our leaders will keep us in their hearts. This is has been a year of struggles for so many. My son was unemployeed for 4 months, my son-in-law is being laid off after his computer technology plant is closing. This is the second time in 4 years this has happened. My husband has not worked since last May. He is 60-who is going to hire him? He is a disabled vet with no health insurance. Please remember Us.

Mura’s Pledge:
I am told I am an optimist.....
I garden .....
Imagine that you plant an ugly brown onion like thing in the ground in the fall .....
God/Nature / Creator has to have had a sense of humor ..and the need to test the faith and trust and optimism of every gardener such as me ....
We are those Americans... the ones that can believe such an ugly thing is worth such care ..worth the effort ......because .....
.....if you wait the season of winter ....it will reward you with the blooms like no other .......in the early spring when you are weary of the bleak .....and cold .......the golden warmth of a daffodil will bloom ....
I am such a gardener .....and such an optimistic American .....and I trust the dark ......the buried .....the unseen magic that is deep within this country's people .....all of us .... ......
My grandfather lived through a depression and told me I'd see another in my life time !
He survived and bloomed .....We will all get through this by helping each other discover what is buried within ...and America will bloom again .
So I pledge to look for that which is buried in us all ......and will nurture it until we ......America .......bloom again !

  Sam’s Story:
It's real simple, I was laid off on Jan. 28th. Now I am thinking of running for Congress. I have 3 children and they deserve better than this and no one knows better what my children need better than a loving parent.

’s Story:
I am a salesman and have been in sales since I was 10 years old going door to door helping my mother put food on the table and pay the rent. I love to work hard and earn my way in this world. This economy has made it harder for me in terms of making the kind of money that I had become accustomed to. However we (our family) have managed by re-evaluating our priorities and making sacrifices. I don't make as much as I used to but we have come together and have all cut back on the things to mae it.

’s Story:
I thought I would be safe in Healthcare, I was wrong. I was laid off two days before Thanksgiving. I was one of the lucky ones who found a job again. Making less money, but making ends meet by cutting expences to the bone. I have faith that we will rise again, it was time for a " reckoning ".

Terry Root’s Story:
Trying to buy our own home, my hubby is laid off most the time, he's a trucker. I work for fairly small wages, but at least I have a job! My son had to move home with his fiance' and new baby because he couldn't make it on his wages with the economy the way it is. My two daughters have to share a place, one's out of work and the other has a part time job well attending nursing school. We struggle but at least we have each other. I am thankful for family! during these times.

Ray Pierce’s Story:
I am a carpet installer. Since 9/11 work has been scarce. We are getting paid the same or LESS than we did 10 years ago. Yet, supplies and GAS (Which prices should be controlled somehow) keep going up. I've worked 16 hours in the last 3 weeks. I feel that the main problem- Illegal Immigrants. They come in and lower their pay requirements. Also we have lost LOTS to outsourcing. Sending AMERICAN jobs out of the country to save a buck at the sacrifice of quality. Bring back Made in America!

Billy’s Story:
My family is blessed to have a stable income. But I have vowed to make my 6 children still at home more aware of our blessings and responsibilities. We have a home, beds, clothes, water, electricity and gas...yet many of our fellow citizens are doing without. We have made a vow to clean out, give up, and give away many of the things we once thought important. My children and I have selected clothing, toys & games to give away, and are donating more money to local charaties that help others.

’s Story:
I am the wife if an Army soldier, living here at Fort Benning, GA. We have 3 wonderful kids and we do the very best that we can. We survive off of his military income only, which as anyone who has served knows, it is not much. I shop for my kids at discount and close-out stores and I make a dollar stretch as far as I possibly can. My husband has been sent to Iraq and Afghanistan 3 times, and each time we cope the best we can. We wish yearly for a pay raise that will help more. We will wish on..

’s Story:
I am a Realtor and since my business is slow, I have been helping my parents, 85, with their daily lives. (Averaging over 4 hours daily..good timing for a slow market) I have cut my spending, am growing more veggies, and using the items, supplies, I have on hand. A cleansing time! :) Some things are way more important than $....Family, Health, etc.

Kelley’s Story:
Just wanted to give everyone some encouragement for these tough times we are living in. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ you should feel peace and reassurance that God is in control and he does not have plans to harm us only good for us. My prayer is that you trust in God and give all your cares to him. He is waiting for you with arms open wide for you to turn to him and cast your burdens onto him. Also we can never put our trust in man, government, etc..Only Jesus Christ!!!

Bob Wolfe’s Story:
I & my family have been greatly blessed. Because I didn't listem to those who said it could be done and what makes you think you can do that, I prevailed and now enjoy serveral sources of income that no longer depends on me or my efforts. I now enjoy a retirement income in the high 5 figures. I lived by two ideas that changed my outlook, You have a choice - simple daily disciplines or simple errors in judgement and wealthy people build networks, everyone else looks for WORK!
